Nuclear Fuels and Other Fuels n.e.c.
SIEC section 9, the last of the ten top-level sections of the Standard International Energy Product Classification (SIEC); see that page for the classification’s scope rules, coding system and full Table 3.1 code list. Nuclear fuels are within SIEC’s scope but, unlike the other fuel sections, are not used in energy balances [IRES, Ch. III, para. 3.12, PDF pp. 35–36, 2018].
Authorship note: unlike the rest of Chapter III’s product definitions — the work of InterEnerStat, reviewed by the Oslo Group and the UN Expert Group on Energy Statistics — the nuclear-fuel definitions below fell outside InterEnerStat’s scope and were instead provided by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) [IRES, Ch.
