About

IRES LLM-Wiki is an LLM-built and LLM-maintained knowledge base on the international methodology for official energy statistics, centred on the UN International Recommendations for Energy Statistics (IRES, Statistical Papers Series M No. 93, United Nations, 2018).

IRES was adopted by the UN Statistical Commission at its 42nd session (February 2011) and provides the agreed framework for the collection, compilation and dissemination of energy statistics, including the Standard International Energy Product Classification (SIEC).

Method

Content is grounded in a three-layer provenance chain:

  1. raw — verbatim machine extractions of the original documents, never edited
  2. source — cleaned, readable copies of each document
  3. wiki — cited digests of each document, plus synthesis pages that draw across documents

Every factual claim carries a bracketed citation back to a source document, cited by chapter, paragraph, and PDF page (e.g. [IRES, Ch. I, para. 1.5, PDF p. 15, 2018]). Pages that could not be fully verified are marked confidence: low or confidence: medium in their metadata.

Start at the root Map of Content and follow topic links. There is no search index — the MOC tree is the index: every topic under wiki/ is a folder whose own index.md is that topic’s MOC. Topics mirror the chapter structure of IRES itself.
